Lorenz Architecture was commissioned in the Spring of 2009 to develop a master plan and design concept for Grace Lutheran Church in Concord. Grace Lutheran Church is one of the oldest congregations in the Logan Community. The existing sanctuary can be seen above right with the new addition rendered on the left side.

Since the congregation continues to grow, a larger fellowship hall, classrooms, and offices are needed. The addition incorporates a 300 seat fellowship hall on the main level and offices and classrooms on the lower level.

Lorenz was selected because of their reputation of creating thoughtful solutions for churches and their responsiveness and collaborative approach. The 10,000 SF addition has been designed to harmonize with the neighborhood.

In the summer of 2008, this two story, 13,500 sf classroom and fellowship building addition was completed to accommodate the congregation’s growing population. Because of Lorenz Architecture’s reputation with church architecture and their ability to be responsive and sensitive to budgets, Grace United Methodist Church commissioned Lorenz. The classrooms and fellowship hall were designed with moveable walls to accommodate changing needs. Lorenz was able to design the addition with minimal impact on parking and sanctuary functions. Lorenz Architecture worked closely with the contractor to keep costs within budget. The building was completed within schedule.

As this Church’s mission and congregation grew, the need for a new worship center arose so they could continue to serve their community. After researching several local architectural firms, they selected Lorenz Architecture based on our past history with church buildings and track record of delivering projects within budget. Working closely with the building committee, the design for a new 9,000 SF sanctuary and 9,000 SF fellowship hall was developed that would serve their needs for today and allow them the ability to expand their facilities in the future. During construction, the design team monitored the construction process ensuring the building was built to the plans and to keep the project on schedule.
