The Process
We believe the most effective approach regarding the expansion of most churches is to discuss goals, needs, ideas, and plans and if necessary have an as-built survey of your property. Quite often a master site plan or a graphic feasibility study is warranted. We also can provide ideas for financing. We then will generate schematic drawings that communicate the needs of your church while providing several concepts for a solution. Finally, we will develop one design solution and move ahead with a permit and bid ready set of construction drawings.
Having a needs assessment or building program is crucial at the earliest stage of planning.
Site Study, Programming, Master Planning and Schematic Design
- We will meet with the Building Committee to determine building needs and establish a building program and or master plan (a Master Plan can prioritize ministry needs, maximize the long range use of the site, and answer fundamental issues concerning the re-use of existing spaces, renovation, adding, or moving).
- Prepare a schematic floor plan and elevations.
- Verify that schematic design meets current and projected needs and is within budget.
- Determine the best overall design concept.
- Determine how the project will be constructed.
Design Development (Continued refinement and development of the design)
- Prepare a more developed site plan, floor plan, and elevations.
- Coordinate with other disciplines.
- Prepare code review.

Construction Documents
- Continued coordination with the other disciplines.
- Complete drawings for permits.
Permitting & Bidding
- Submit drawings local authorities for review.
- Provide information and answer questions during bidding.
- Receive and evaluate bids.
- Award contract.
Construction Administration
- Review Contractor’s shop drawings and material submittals.Answer Contractor’s field questions.
- Review and approve payment
applications from the contractor.
- Ensure the projects stays within
budget and schedule.
